CLINICAL SERVICES

ASSESSMENT - Using oral interviews and standardized questionnaires, we determine each client's previous exposure to violence, degree of pathology, chemical dependency and control tactics, as well as levels of verbal, emotional and physical abuse. Many of us conduct formal assessments on behalf of court systems, and for employers concerned about worker safety.

ANGER & CONFLICT MANAGEMENT - For the vast majority of high-conflict relationships, which involve verbal abuse or less serious violence. Indi-vidual counseling or group. Group format generally semi-structured, same or mixed-sex, short-term or open-ended. Separate groups for adolescents.

BATTERER TREATMENT - Same-sex groups for individual men and women who have perpetrated serious assaults. Many of our affiliates offer court-approved programs, suitable for individuals convicted of domestic violence.

COUPLES COUNSELING - Studies show that most partner violence is mutual. After it is brought under control and each client's safety is assured, couples therapy is often the ideal treatment option. Special multi-couples groups available, for basic skills acquisition and long-term support.

GAY AND LESBIAN PROGRAMS - High conflict and violence among gay and lesbian partners exceed the rates for straight couples. Some of our affiliates offer specialized treatment tailored to the needs of this population.

FAMILY THERAPY - Partner, parental and sibling abuse affects the entire family. When properly conducted, family work can facilitate communi-cation and understanding, help to identify unhealthy family scripts and further the process of healing.

PARENTING & CHILDREN'S PROGRAMS - Children are the most likely victims in abusive families. We offer a range of workshops and support groups to help parents acquire non-abusive but effective methods of discipline. Some of our affiliates also conduct therapy groups for children who have been physically abused or have witnessed violence between their parents.

VICTIM SERVICES - Individual and family counseling for adult and child victims of family violence.
